Thread: Washer/Overflow bottles.

I was looking at my car (the good one) and noticed that there was a overflow bottle and a washer fluid bottle. But they were SEPARATE.

I took these pics JUST NOW.

Like....Here is the the Overflow bottle.....

And here is the washer fluid bottle.....

But when looking at my parts car, I noticed that it was a different story..... THEY ARE TOGETHER!!!!

    Why would they do that?

    Here is pics.....

    Any thoughts?

certainly interesting, i think i prefer the ones that are joined together, seems smarter, more compact.

that other overflow is an ugly box shaped thing, where as the joined together ones are nice and curvy

as for why? who knows, toyota is crazy

ADM models have them seperate (different side of the engine bay  ), while JDM ones (I'm assuming USDM ones too) hae them together. Its all to do with the placement of the engine, and parts, and conversion to LHD, etc. Actually, the ADM cars have the holes drilled on the right (drivers side) strut tower for the washer/overflow combo. Guess its one of those things that can be done, but was changed at the time

ALL of our bottles over here are placed on the right side.. (your driver's side)
I guess we get BOTH over here.. The separate and the joined.

got them the wrong way around , ADM have them together on the left hand corner of the engine bay , while JDM ones are separate and the washer bottle is mounted on the passengers side strut tower

LOL... yes, that is correct, I got it wrong...

Drivers side together ADM, separate JDM.

I'd say it would be to do with the engine, if USDM models are different...

because one has a 4age and one doesn't....

all adm 86's have a mount in the engine bay for the jointed bottle, JDM's don't, one way you can pick a JDM 86 over an aussie one.

It is quite simple, the 4AGE cars have an air filter box that is bolted into the front right hand corner, so there is no room for the combined washer and overflow bottle.

If you remove the bracket that the combined bottle sits in (the round hole) the bolt holes are in position for the airbox.
