its kinda like that.
i doubt it would work without a handy dandy vaccum former though.
could probably just get a standard one put a sheet of acrylic or perspex over it and chuck it in the oven at like 110 degrees for about 15 mins. Then just trim it and drill some holes.

so did u just vacuum form over a standard plastic 1? or did u make a mold out of wood first? also did u cover the front ribs/vents so it was flat? also what size plastic r u using to get the detail? cos i've thought it would have to be HDPE = High Density Polyethylene as its got a moulding temp of around 120oC and a average deforming heat of around 90oC and i was unsure if that would be ok for engine bay temps?
sorry for all the questions as i sort of do things like this at uni so ive been slowly been thinking about how to do it
man if you would make a full set for a 20v, man i really got no idea wha i would do to get my hands on one, pure secks
for this one i vacuum formed over the original. it turned out ok.
i only did at work cause i was bored, it is by no means high quality.
im not sure what kinda plastic it is, but we buy it specifically for vacuum forming.
i didnt heat it up too much, so some of the curves arent too good, and the ribs didnt show either.
i plan to try another one and make it neater, doing it over the original cover might actually work well with the right prep
well if u get desperate i have access to a couple of vacuum forming machines at uni 1 is big enough for most regular sized products etc and another is sometimes used but refrigeration companies cos its that big
