What sort of fuel economy are people getting out of their Corollas. Mainly looking at a 4age with light modification and just wondering how many km people are getting out of a tank of fuel for every day driving...

    Some people's experiences

Being a small-cap engine it won't drink too much, as an indication my 4AC that runs rich does about 10L/100km, expect a 4AGE to do a little better than that depending on how it is tuned, how it is driven etc. :2thumbs:

I really don't see how a "true" car enthusiast wouldn't be interested in a more efficient car.... Thats half the essence of japanese cars. Only an american v16 12 liter american barge with leaf springs lover could not care about efficiency/economy.

thats exactly right. more power=more fuel

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (driftspec @ Nov 8 2007, 08:41 PM) </div>well...if driven on the high way at higher speeds or uphill ALL the time then yes, the 4AGE is more efficient. regular city/touge driving. no. My lab partner has a twin cam 1.6 nissan sentra(more or less 4AGE) , he uses $12 a week on the same distance i use $7. then again, the way i drive is well... questionable, and my carb and timing are set for economy. remember:

more HP equals less stress and lower rpms at higher speeds, but also means awkward shifts in the 20-30 mph(33-50 kph) range. that and the demand for fuel (even if its electronically regulated) will be more. so yup. 4ACs for broke bastards!! wooh!

anyways i get roughly around 24-27 at best mpg......eh....you do the kpl conversion.

How does more power give lower rpms at higher speed. Maybe more low rpm torque would up a hill but other than that it has to do with gear ratios.

Yeah, I don't follow. Remember, each individual engine's set up from factory, service history, and tune will affect the fuel economy of the car, not to mention how it is driven. I'd say the 4AGE should be more efficient, EFI engines are normally more efficient as they can't fall out of tune (as carbys can), and EFI delivers a controlled amount of fuel each time.

I drive about 200km a week (roughly) and end up spending about $25 a week on fuel, probably about 17-20L depending on the price.

I wouldn't call it wasting fuel anyways

I have managed to get just over 7L/100 with my 20v. I used to get 9L with hard driving all the time before my efi started having problems
