    hey guys

    quick question, steering on the car is pretty loose, and there is this slight clicking when you free play the steering wheel when the car is stationary.

    when i bought the car, the previous owner said don't drive it on the highway as it gets this vibration in the steering. i took it to 130 or something a few times and haven't found anything wrong with it, so i cant verify their word. but i have the following questions;

    if the rack ends are rooted, whats going to happen if i drive with them like that for a month or two?

    is there any way to identify a rooted rack end by visual inspection?

    thanks, Ryan

    thanks slippry, anybody know what would happen if they went un-fixed (apart from the loose, imprecise steering?)

    My steering was stuffed when I got it, walked all over the road, every bump was a change of direction. I took it to Pedders for a $14 28 point check, looked at the list of things, laughed at the $2800 total cost for them to fix it, took it home and did it myself. The steering problem was ball joints in the LCAs. I had previously replaced the rack ends and that made a difference too.

    Regards,
    Chris

    Everything will be flogged out man.

    Replace everything, all the consumables.

    You will be rewarded with great steering feel and a much nicer car to drive!
