at the moment i have this:-

    tokico hts102r
    id63 sleeve kit
    spacer for shock 15mm
    rca
    cambertops

    missing is the springs

I am trying to organize all the items ready so that can be ready to start to build the coilovers. The problem i am facing now is the springs and cutting the perch section and if there might be any more pls do inform.

    1. Springs, because the sleeve kit are id63, can i get id65 springs?

    2. Springs, because the sleeve kit are id63 will i able to use springs that have the free height of 200mm? or do i really need 205mm - 215mm?

    3. In order to start building the coilover i was told i need to cut like 40mm of the strut and use 20mm spacer to go together with the shocks, my idea right now is, cutting 35mm of the strut and using 15mm spacer will that also come to the same conclusion?

    4. Is there any item i am missing or any more process i did not take to complete the build?

Thanks to whoever in advance first.

yeah thats fine, i'm doing that with zero problems thanks to the suspension guy thinking he was smarter than me and not giving me what i asked for

use whatever height you need to, all readily available, spring ID has nothing to do with free length.

    3. In order to start building the coilover i was told i need to cut like 40mm of the strut and use 20mm spacer to go together with the shocks, my idea right now is, cutting 35mm of the strut and using 15mm spacer will that also come to the same conclusion?

pretty much, it took me months to figure out what length spacer to use, but only cause i kept agonising over it. make sure you understand how everything goes together very clearly before you cut anything, you can;t cut it longer!

    4. Is there any item i am missing or any more process i did not take to complete the build?

depends what you have exactly, you neet to work out what camber tops you are using, and you will have to work out how you are going to mount the top spring hat etc. search around and read up some more

Thanks to whoever in advance first.

    regarding to question 2

making the coilover what i know is, i need to find around 205mm to 215mm for the springs base on research, so my question is can 200mm be use? cause no one has cover abt the 200mm springs

cutting less out and using a smaller spacer will not work with the same length strut insert

if you were to cut out 35 mm you would have to have a 25mm spacer

    here is the theory

these are not the real lengths but they will illustrate the point.

i used 200mm 8kg/mm springs sits pretty well in the middle of the threaded sleeve, but cos it looks like you are going to be mounting the sleeve lower than i did i would use the longer ones.
your original strut casing is 440mm long

the insert you use is 380mm long

you cut out 40mm of casing new casing length is 400mm

to match the strut to the new casing length you use 20mm spacer on bottom of 380mm strut = 400mm

so to use your 15mm spacer cut out 45mm

regarding question 3, yeah i was thinking just now, actually i suppose to be cutting 45mm not 35mm, so that i can use the 15mm spacer. thx for correcting that.

still stuck on question 2, anybody?

    oh whoops on 3

200mm will be fine, thats why coilovers are adjustable!

here is my question regarding question 2

i did some research abt the 200mm, and couple say yes and couple say no, cause if i can use 200mm, then everyone who did the same conversion can order the TRD springs that has like 200mm free height right? but people were saying that it won't match up.

i do agree i mean, if we are doing coilovers, we can adjust the height, but just because of 5mm and most party are saying it will cause different outcome. What outcomes?

basically i finding out info about the spring on question 2, i am not after springs yet, this is to clear things up when anyone wants to do the proper coilover conversion, rather then just buying one that is made already or handing on to someone who can make them. Its just in the end, i am chasing after all the parts together, then getting it done to get that great satisfactory that is was done exactly what other ppl that has done, done. LOL
