    Hey all...

So i lost power to my fuel pump. Yesterday i hooked up a manual over ride to it, so the fuel pump is now on a switch.. That's all good and fine, but I still have no spark... Something isn't giving it that final kick that it needs to get started.. When trying to start it, it tries really hard, but like i said - no spark.. Have checked the dizzy and stuff. Plugs and leads are all fine..

What could possibly be wrong now? Is is possible my micotech is playing head games with me? or maybe its something more simple like the igniter/coil or something?

This thing is seriously driving me mental now. Any help would be much appreciated

    Karley

no crank/cam angle signal, with out a crank angle signal their is no spark and no fuel pulse or pump(cos the microtech doesn't know that the engine is turning over)
    that's where i'd be starting

if you have a dizzy (like the one you said you checked), you won't have a crank angle censor... a crank angle sensor is pretty much just an advance version of a dizzy...

so you've taken out the plugs, grounded them on the head or somewhere metal and watched for a spark when you turn it over? how did you check it's not your leads?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (VeRm69 @ Dec 6 2007, 04:07 PM) </div>who said dizzies don't have angle sensors. all 4a-ge's have cam/crank angle sensors in the base of the distributor.
the rest of what i said is basic diagnostics, group faults into common causes. all efi systems require a tachometric signal to keep the fuel pump running.
for toyota efi, without the two signals(NE and G) from the crank/cam angle sensor you would get no spark, fuel pulse or pump.

and if it is a gze, unless it's from a early aw11 or ae9# levin, it will run DLI

GZE? front right of the head as you look at it, right above your alternator.

Check the error code screens on the microtech to see if it is having any problems first...
