    FIRST : DIFF - how hard is it to custom a F/G series diff in an AE86, what would i need to know and do? which is better F or G?

    SECOND : REAR COILOVERS - i've rear that some people dont use rear coilover on the rear because of the rear shock mount, would it be better if u run rear coilovers with notmal springs?

    you mean run the coilovers AND another pair of springs in the normal location??

    unless you are 100 racing chasing the last .1% the factory rear end of an ae86/ke70 is fine

    if you need to go to coilovers, consider other options

    1st q: If you need to ask what needs to be done, have a diff specialist build it for you. It's not something thats easily done unless you know exactly what to do. Personally i think F-series is the best compromise between strength and weight. That said, it's becoming harder and harder to come by the proper width F-series diffs these days. I've only ever seen about 6 of these in the last 3-4 years and i bought 4 of them

    If you do have a turbo setup pushing BIG power (over 220-250 rwkw) then i'd lean towards a G-series just to be on the safe side. Most of the diffs ive built have been G-series diffs due to availability and being able to convert them to disk brakes relatively easily. There are plenty of G-series diffs the correct width for a sprinter ranging from 1370 to 1430mm wide. Alot of them are 6 stud though but i get them converted back to 4 stud. There is practically every ratio under the sun for these as well from 3.7s to 5.1s

    2nd q: When the diff gets built, get them to leave the spring perches in so you can run either setup and decide later after researching a bit more.

    my brother is getting coilovers for the rear, do u think its good to take out the shock, leave the spring and run the coilovers with the spring

    ^^^why bother goin coilover setup then anyway?!?!!

    the only advantage i see of running coilover in the back, is height adjustability and of course wank factor!!!

    so if you take the spring off the coilover, then theres no adjustability...just wank factor :lol:

    So in other words... get someone to build the diff for you? <_<

    And a common welder wont have the equipment to check the housing for bending. ALL modified housings must be checked for straightness after the welding has been done. Every diff ive made has always had the housing slightly bent from the welding heat, hence the reason i take them to a diff specialist to have them straightened.

    I am in same situation i am wanting to push 150kw with my 4agte but afraid my t18 diff cant handle it. So i am looking for a e series or a f series tarago diff But there is so much shit involved !!!!
