I know too many people who have endured hell with CA's. They are a flawed motor from factory so why try and 'fix' them with bigger sumps and oil coolers and such? Its pretty much common knowledge these days that CA's spin bearings, pop headgaskets and have oil control issues, not something id want in a track car thats for sure.

As for first hand knowledge? I'm smart enough to learn from others mistakes...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (KonaKid @ Dec 13 2007, 12:26 AM) </div>only real reason why an engine spins a bearing is lack of oil.
any motor can blow a head gasket. CAs dont blow them any quicker than the next motor.
i dont have a bigger sump. the only time they start having oil problems is when s13 drivers wind 20psi through them and bounce off rev limiter and expect them to hold up to that punishment standard.

the only thing that is upgraded on my motor is another oil drian, but i suppose to most of you bolt on FTW kinda guys thats too much effort.
i have had problems in the past but thats due to my lack of knowledge, not for them being a shit engine.

go the CA, it's well worth the effort when you line up againest a worked 4A and you wipe the floor clean with it. and it's different.

most toyota engines are over-engineered and will take the punishment of an extra 10psi or an extra 1000rpm. that's why all the bolt-on boys love them.

Bullshit a properly worked 4a would smoke a piece of shit ca any day isnt it funny how nissan needed a 1.8 to get 100kw out of there ca whereas toyota only needed a 1.6 to extract 130 kw naturally aspirated the turbo ca only makes 130kw and its 200cc more with forced induction it just tells you something doesnt it TOYOTA IS WAY BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ^^

i dont think nissan ever planned for the ca18de to be a very competative engine considering it came out in a 1300kg car.

but line the ca18det up against the 4agze turbo and you notice the extra 200cc. from what i have witnessed 4agze turbo needs a bit more boost to put out similar power figures to a ca18det.

this subject always turns into toyota is better than nissan!
it is not what i am trying to get accross, as i would have no chance on a toyota forum.
all i am trying to say to all the perfectionests is that the conversion is well worth the money. :2thumbs: :greenbounce:
