Sure the 20v the same power compared to a stock CA18det, but you have to rev it to 8k.
20v is a tuff motor.
Worried about blowing CA's up and doing headgaskets? keep in near stock and enjoy the reliability and added torque
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Arch @ Dec 13 2007, 09:17 PM) </div>what motor is this?

there is no toyota motor that produces this many kw. the closest to producing this power is the black top 20v which is 121 kw

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (4a-cnt @ Dec 13 2007, 07:44 PM) </div> Bullshit a properly worked 4a would smoke a piece of shit ca any day isnt it funny how nissan needed a 1.8 to get 100kw out of there ca whereas toyota only needed a 1.6 to extract 130 kw naturally aspirated the turbo ca only makes 130kw and its 200cc more with forced induction it just tells you something doesnt it TOYOTA IS WAY BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well well, doesn't the teeny bopper bur up quickly!
I've worked for toyota for nearly seven years now, i know damn well how good toyota engines are and how much power they make and i never said the CA was a better motor, but thanks for the lecture neway :2thumbs:
each to their own really, but (for comparative aspirated motors) a CA cut is cheaper than a GZE cut and it comes with a much more usable gearbox than a T-50
that's my two cents from real life experiences.....not hot 4's
Another example of why toyota is better take a look at a 3sge motor compared to a sr20det for god sake the 3s has 150 kW @ 7000 rpm thats as much as the turbo SR sure later on the sr gained more power but still not as much as the 3sgte it produced 190 kw nissan had no match for this kind of power how and can a stock turbo 2 litre be beaten by a stock na 2 litre just tells you something about nissan and toyota doesnt it toyota is better and always will be. :2thumbs:
someone loves wikipedia^^. this WAS about how to fit a CA, not about comparing SR's to 3sgte's. i agree that Toyota makes bullshit strong motors and i think a 4a is a fkn good engine (even if i own a nissan). i would love to have a sprinter with a 4age, but i still think that if you can get hold of a good CA and treat it well, that it is a worthwile and very fun swap.
4a-cnt, i know what your saying but your argument is flawed.....a bit like ca's from the factory....![]()

I owned a ca18det ke70 for a while.. It was good to me.. I was aware of their faults so, i mucked around with the oil feed and drain lines... I got new larger diameter lines made up from steel and it had sufficient flow...
Main thing to consider is your budget... If you have an ae71, definetely go for the 4age, as it wont cost you all that much, and you could do alot of the work yourself as it would bolt straight in... A 4age doesnt really have the power for track, unless your a very skilled driver..
For a ca conversion, you'll need custom engin mounts, gearbox mounts, Custom balanced tailshaft, stronger diff, sufficient bracing to cope with all that grunt, custom exhaust and the list keeps going...
Dont be discouraged by other 'less helpful' members about the ca.... I once knew a guy, who knew a guy, who married some bird, then gave birth to a guy that popped his ca ... The ca is not a perfect motor, neither is the 4age... Compare the two...
CA 1.8L DET
4AGE 1.6L NA
Ofcourse the det motor will have reliability issues...
Paulie i happen to know jason who you sold youre car to at the moment its suffering from a chronic miss and is now tapping like hell on startup i think its nearly at the end of its life just like all ca's he's not happy about it but we all told him not to buy it.

it was perfect reason to get rid of it after the 4th new bottom end
also ca into e7 = they feel wak and less chuckable
