how much u planning to spend ? theres a guy down in vic selling a 1jz mx83 for 7k if u feel that will save u time and money
Hi guys,
Starting to plan my next project which is gonna be an MX83 cressida. jap vip style.
Have been thinking about the motor side and want to do something different and wanna go natro power. Straight six with exhaust, intake, cams maybe. engine bay wiring hiden...
Anyone have experience with the natro 2jz-ge?? Are they still a worthy motor natro?? Would it be that much better than 7mge??
And what manual boxes can you fit to them??
Cheers,
Deano

i want to start with a stock standard car this time and make it to my tastes.....i want to build it myself this time.
Not to worried about cost...i would spend up to 5g on an engine swap and a bit more on for the GB. Just want to know if the jz is worth the swap over the 7m?

I like 2JZs alot more than 7Ms, but then again it involves a lot of work to fit one to an MX83 when there is already a 7M in there. With that money and time you could get the 7M strong and reliable.
Also bear in mind that it costs quite a bit to get a manual gearbox behind a JZ engine. You can make W58, R154 og V160 fit with varying difficulty and expense.
So while I like the idea, I'm not sure it'd ever be worth it. Though you'll have to decide that for yourself.

go w58 man, eaaasy as to make a bellhousing to fit it, i have a few w bellhousings laying around that u can get cut n shut

There's also a factory JZ-> W58 bellhousing (from NA JZA80) but they are hard to find, or around $400 new genuine.
cheers for the info fellas....have given me something to think about.
sounds like the GB will be the most stuffing around...is it the same deal if i stuck with the 7mge with the GB choices?
cool beans.

Motorfix did a build up of one in an GX73 for a customer. check the build thread here to find out what you need, should be fairly similar?
RT142 Estate.
AJPS.
you will also need a sump swap. all na 2js are mid sump, and you need a front sump.
having said that. na 2js are awesome. na jza80s are actually pretty fast, 14sec 1/4s fast.
i would go 2j. think is like, even manual bellhousings/flywheel ect for 7ms arent actually cheap/easy to get really so you will be spending money there regardless.

Cams are hard to find for a NA 2jz from what I remember when I was a supra owner, there were alot of NA guys wanting to do built motors but the massive lack of aftermarket cams was stopping this so they just sold up and bought 2jzgtes.
This may have changed in the 2.5 years since I owned one, but the only ones I remember were custom items for a group buy and they were big dollars.
There were alot of pus extractors floating around too so be careful.
As slydar said, there were a few boys doing high 14s in their NAs. Just get a 1jz tbh though, unless you are really set on atmo and want to be different.
