    hey guys,

as the title states what fuel pumps have you used to run your 4age? at the moment im running a bosch 044 that came with the car when i bought it. and its just rediculously loud and totally and utterly over kill (who needs a 660hp fuel pump to run a N/A 16v ?)

so i was thinking of going to the wreckers and grabbing an external pump from a vl or other commodore just so its actually bearable to drive my car without the music blazing

    so chuck up suggestions!

    cheers,

    stefan

just insulate the 044, its cheaper and will be far more reliable than any pump from the wreckers, if u still feel the need to get another pump, buy a new one. a failed pump can lead tp leanng out which will lead to one very unhappy owner kickin himself for bein stingy.

as for insulation, rubber hose around the pump as well as under the bracket will shut it up

2nd the call for a new pump. You can get a new VL one for around $100 (from memory). It will work and should be a lot safer than a wrecker job.

i was doing the research yesturday on vl pumps, the external ones are around $160+ mark which i really do not feel like paying considering i have a perfectlly functional pump as is now if you know what i mean. joys of trying to make your car legal as possible  . ive bolted the pump to the wheel well in the space between the diff its all running uber efficient and really loud which is the annoying bit.

has anyone got any pics of their external fuel pump setup?

you can buy mounting brackets ebay i no you not ment to post ebay links but just helping a guy out

also if you rubber mount the bracket it should make it a fair bit quieter im pretty sure that most of the noise is vibration

Autobarn also have them now too, I was putting them out the other day. Otherwise just go to a clarke rubber and go crazy.
Thats if its the vibration that is making it noisey, I thought they were just noisy pumps to start out with.
