Ive noticed that T50 tranmissions found in AE71s, and ADM AE86s
    cost around $350

call me crazy but that is very steep for a gearbox that exactly handle much torque.
    and is 20yo old...

    eg S13 SRTurbo box $450...

I might be over reacting but the whole market should
take a step back and think what they are doing..

Supply and demand not takumi tax

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (hatzo @ Dec 20 2007, 08:16 PM) </div>Im pretty sure you can pick up a T50 from the wreckers for around $150? Thats what i have heard. The only thing i really look for on this site is stuff that doesn't come stock for my car. Everything else such as spares i pretty much look @ the wreckers.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (hatzo @ Dec 20 2007, 08:46 PM) </div>The problem is getting the right version.

The T-50 was in a few different cars behind a few different motors, however only the AE71 and the AE86 have the right input / output splines.

Fact is they are getting harder and harder to come by.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?

it's cause of all the GZE owners anyway... anyone have links between the differences etc between all the t50's because i would say one from say a t-18 wouldn't have been thrashed, and would be "fresh" so if it's just a case of changing the input shafts over it's easy

Im 90% sure its actually just a case of changing bellhousings over.

T18 gearboxes arent plentiful, but they are much cheaper.

ive always noticed that someone who puts up a WTB thread for example, will pay more for the box, then someone who snakes one in the FS parts section.

I rang up a few wreckers and toyota spares places, they all wanted in excess of $450 for an ADM T50. <_<
