Hey Guys and girls, im new on this forum but i have been a member of SRC (sydney rolla club) for awhile now, i drive a ae82 but just got given a KE55..

i have some good plans for this car including a full restore of the body and respray and also tidy the interior up... but my big question is the engine that im wanting to put in it.... i have 2 choices.... a CA18DET or a 4AG(T)E......

im not after massive power or anything like that just some nice boost action lol..

i need help on which engine is the easiet to fit... and i also need to know what modification needs to be done to run either of those engines...

i have done some research, and if im correct if i run te CA18DET i will need to modify the tunnel to allow for the gearbox am i right??? and on the 4age i need to swap to a w series box???

but where im having the most trouble is the diff and running gear.. i have NO clue what to run, and what brakes i should be using both front and rear....

my dad is an excellant welder so the engine mounts should be easier enough to cut and reweld into place, < is that a good idea???

sorry for all my questions but i have been trying really hard to research, and also this is my first RWD experience lol...

    cheers in advance

    GO CA!!!

    *waits for roasting*

nah, if you want a second hand motor to just throw in and thrash, go a GZ(T)E.
if you want to build up a motor first, then throw in. go the CA. the extra displacement gives good off boost responce , even with a largish sized blower.

niether motor will just bolt in, both have alot of custom work involved. so go with the motor you want or go with the motor most liked here(bear in mind there might be a slight toyota bias)

could always keep it oldschool and toyota and go the 2tg/3tgte.
brother has a 3/2tg hybrid in his ke35 and it will be a fun car as soon as it gets running.

but otherwise i personally i would stick with a 4age or ze.

hey mate your best off heading over to rollaclub.com, they got heaps of info over there, and quite a few guys who have done what you are talking about.

i will give you a hint though, im told that if you use RB20 engine mounts, and your stock K engine crossmemeber, a CA will bolt in not sure what you do about the gearbox end, but im sure you can figure something out.
