thanks but no, my lack of experience is embarassing I am just good at putting together bits and pieces of info that seems reliable to me and the little experience I have had.

I agree with all your points bar the last one, I cant comment for that as I dont know much about ECU's so I will keep quiet about which ecu is best.

eddie: like LittleRedSpirit and fantapants said, keep the revs to 9000, I dont think its that hard to make a 20v rev to 9000 but after that it opens up the issues of oil pump failure, crank fatiage, etc...

Where do you want your power band to primarly be and how much compramises (if any) in low end power are you prepared to live to get that?

I suggest some custom extractors, aftermarket cams and raised compression ratio on which specs depend on your answer above.

Jonny: not the ideal place to ask but whats your opinion on the necessity of upgrading the retainers when the rates of the springs go up. I hear people talk about the stock ones being weak and pulling through but I cant get a straight answer anywhere and it shits me. Also any idea if there is an issue with spring binding or fatiage with 9.5mm lift on stock springs?

The bottom end would suck with those big cams and maybe thats where he wants the power gains as he didnt say. But I guess you do have a pretty valid assumption in thinking that he actually wants to have some sort of power up to actually use 10,000RPM. Going with that assumption I completly agree with you on the cam specs and gears.

LittleRedSpirit: whast so bad about the microtech? are the load points too far apart? too low a processing speed? lack of finer control of things like fuel spiking for initial throttle(s) opening?

fantapants: care to share who the magic man is? also "streeter"? tell me your first name isnt Ken?

yeah who is streeter?? cant find him mentioned in this thread....

i know ken streeter but i would sure hope he aint got the balls to show up here lol and i know of jesse streeter, but yeah havnt seen him respond here

magic man owned and built from scratch one of the coolest n2 replica's aus has ever seen, and is currently building a full tube chassis 86 with a honda all motor putting 300hp to the wheels. Is a fabricator for westcoast mufflers??? i believe

as for comp, i believe the resolution isnt available from microtech for good clean tuning. They CAN be made to work ok, but are primarily designed as wot easy tune comp.

so it is low resolution, what 500RPM load points or something?

I just asked about the streeter thing because I wanted to make sure we didnt have a loser amoungst us.

I will check out that link later

500rpm load points work fine on a 20v. You only go looking for more load points if AFR spikes or dives erratically between the load points you are using. Revving to 10k, you'd only be able to use load points at 500rpm intervals with most ecus anyhow. I just don't think microtecs work as well in TPS mode as a lot of other ecus out there. Maybe it was just bad tuning on the setups Ive seen, but there are many people who've mentioned the same thing to me. Plus you cant just reconfigure for whatever ignition or engine you decide to run at home, yourself. You gotta send it away i believe. Good for turbo, just not as good for atmo builds as some other ecus out there. If Im sending away an ecu to get more features, I want to be sending a motec away to get my antilag on... not just to change from a Nissan to a Toyota or something simple like that.

to do it properly, 10K rpm really means a crank. bye bye $5000+

what model ecu is it Eddie? some smaller mirotech's dont even have two outputs. but for a 10K rpm motor youre not going to need vvt anyway.

enough of the microtec debate it stays cos thats what i got and it works for me, i have an lt10 ant, ok so scrap the 10g idea thats obviously a dream haha.

realy i want it to be driveable with smooth power, not like nothing or flat out like the turbs setup.

if you want driveability then I say 270/270 cams with VVT
    0.8mm head gasket
    4-2-1 extractors with long pipes
    aftermarket trumpets

A high rpm, NA 20V would be sweet

After running an NA 20V for about 10 years I decided the only way to get more bhp was turbo.

I used a ST as a base, here is a comparison of a Crower rod compared to standard, the crowers were substantially more expensive than eagle's but I feel the quality is better.

At the time I built this engine no one did decomped 5 valve pistons, so I bought some Arias forged and then custom flycut the pistons myself on a mill to suit the ST head, I then blended the valve pockets so there were no nasty sharp edges, then balanced the whole assembly.

I'm using an Autronic SM2 with launch control, anti lag etc.
