ok i need to know what is this part
it bolts on the air canister pan on the carburetor model then has two nipples one leading to the carburetor and the other going into the intake tract
Also theirs this opening and can't find out where it connects too
its that hole in the middle cant figure it out, i just ordered a chilton book but i need to wait 2 weeks

You are in North America right? The first picture, it is called a thermostatic valve. My guess is it bleeds air from the intake and into the carby (bypassing the throttle) to control idle or mixtures according to temperature.
