    Hey guys,

Well when i bought my car the good man i bought it off warned me the clutch is a flooged standard item that will prob not last much longer at all. 12 months of drifting later lol, but i have struck a problem, i dont think it is the clutch itself though.

I have never popped dumped snapped gear or anything in 12 months until at Stadium drift on boxing day i was snapping second to initiate due to the 2m run up to turn 1.

Towards the end of the day i Put the clutch in to do a handbrake and it was really light (lol i nearly kicked a hole in the firewall) and when i released the pedal stayed on the floor. It promptly returned back up and drive and all was ok, it happened this once and from that point on it didn't do it again.

This doesn't to me seem like the clutch itself is the problem. People have suggested slave/master cylinder, but someone else said the fluid may have gotten to hot, the line is close to the exhaust but i thought this problem would have happened before given that i've been sliding it as is for 12months.

Anyways i got no idea so your opinions are appreciated, becasue i really need the car to be reliable for the 5 round series at Archerfield.

    Thanks heaps guys!!!!!!!

    meh it fixed it self

    next question please

pedal staying down does sound hydraulic related. it wouldn't be a leak as that would give a soft pedal.

    gtg back soon to edit

    edit: back

i've heard this boiled fluid theory before. i don't buy it, it would be no good until the fluid cooled down which wouldn't be instantaneously. possibly a sticking slave cylinder pushrod or master rod. one would think more likely the slave seeing its close to the road and its a rubber shielded rod so anything can get in once the boot splits.

check with Grant too as he had an identical issue at QR i'm sure of it

that sounds viable dude, dont rule it out as your clutch tho, in a couple of gtir's i used to work on, the clearances in the pressure plate were to tight, and when they got hot the clutches would lock up from time to time. a simalar thing could be happening in this case. best thing to do would be to go over the whole clutch system, just as a precaution.

the only thing that doesn't add up with what happened is the pedal going hard, if the fluid was boiling/vapourising the pedal would of bee soft and gone str8 to the floor i would think. just check it all to be safe/

sounds like the input shaft needs a good grease, could be that the throwout bearing is clogging on acumulated crap on the input shaft

^^^ very good point, especially if the clutch has had the caning i think it has in that 12 months of use

as gay as it sounds its best to pull the box out, suss the clutch out, clean and lube the input shaft, chec out your masterand slave (pull the slave apart, lube etc) change fluids and go from there. i wouldn't worry much about the master unless its leaking

My slave gave way the other day. It appeared that the piston/rod completely missed the clutch fork and let the piston out to much, therefor pissing fluid everywhere and me having to no clutch it home. Maybe it has sorta missed the fork, got stuck and then came back??? I know my pedal used to hit the floor and come back shortly after. Checked the slave then, it was fine.

Note: Don't take anything of what I've said as 100% correct, just looks as though what had happened to mine.

Ok lads, thanks you all for your help i really appreciate it!

So my plan is replace slave (you have a PM Johl thanks mate), replace fluid obviously and heat sock my line. also check master for leaks etc.

Still considering pulling box out and having a good look around/clean and lube. wat do ya think?

    thanks again.... Marke
