VQ30det will kill, you should have gone tt instead, then youd have super-super bad tranction. gl with engine conversion

This thing has changed so much since i saw it, 6 months ago before jack bought it when another guy called jay had it it was super-granny spec. Looks good, if you wanna sell the blacktop i may be interested (even though i don't have a sprinter atm, but will hopefully be getting one in a few months), a spare blacktop never hurt anyone.

had more pics so i put em up

NOTE: the new work area, rather nice steep hill behind the car makes for some exciting engine crane operation.

I'm now just waitin for some lovely person to buy the black top, so i can pay the rest off on my new motor. goin to start shavin the engine bay tomorro afternoon, so if u need a battery tray or any of the assorted brackets let me now, and i can sell them to u.

nothins gonna happen for awhile once i get the vq, have to decide what box to run which whatever way i go is goin to be rather expensive, hopin for a 350z 6speed, tho i havent seen one for under 2500, so i might just end up with a supra box with a custom bellhousing, and I'm fittin a v8 commi diff, overall its gonna weigh a fair bit, but atleast it will have more balls than the 20v

    let the headaches begin.

The great strip has begun, all brackets removed from the engine bay, now just the task of makin it all silky smooth.

also decided the bay and the inside will be painted that funky vy purple for abit of contrast against the matte black the car will be painted

I'm scared guys, I'm actually thinkin about this build and not slappin it together, I'm worried lol

well, i thought i'd post somethin bout my car, since i can't really do much else for it just yet.

I'd like to know what engines would prefer to see in the front of an 86, out of the following list, as there is sooo many variables.

    1. Nissan VQ30DET, backed by a 350z 6 spd, lots of fab involved, cheap engine, expensive box.

    2. F20c + 6spd, very expensive (too expensive)

    3. k20, f20c box, very expensive, easy motor to convert to rwd

    4. N/a b/t 7age, w5x box

    5. turbs version of number 4

    6. 4g63, custom bell, w5x box, expensive but cool

    7. 3VZfe, w5x box, don't like to rev, i like to rev, expensive for what it is

    8. 1MZ as above

9.rodeo 3.5 v6, expensive for what it is

    10. sr20, i hate sr's enough said

    11. ca, tough, as it is loosely a mini rb, but id prefer a turbs 7a

    12. 3s, expensive, been done.

ill add more, as i remember, i have like 25 or so combo's lol
I'm confused any input, would be appreciated guys

Before any flamage bout weights, remember this is going to be built to handle it, big track, big brakes, even have an s14 rear subframe, if I'm game enought to try, and its almost as light as a t series lol, i was shocked when i found that out.

    10. Yes
    11. Lulz no
    12. If BEAMS yes, if not no

My opinion on the "no" motors was made up almost entirely on either weight or reliability.

Personally I'd go 4,5,10 or 12. But each to his own, looks like you've consider all avenues piston wise. Thought about some rotations?

^^don't utter that word near my car, i like torque

damo, your about 3 months late.

Slide had a bit of trouble this year, i have nothin but a shell left.

thanks for your opinion toxin, always a worthy one.

    but id like to do,

1, just cause i love 6's and this is the best match on budget, and weight, as it is one of the lightest and one of the easiest to find 6's in aus
2, but I'm not payin rp tax, some of these f20's are nearly 10k for a conv package, and thats at trade, id like it but no
3, cause it might be cheaper than the f20
4, cause its probably the right choice
    5, as above
6, well i have seen first hand how easy it can be to get a 4g goin, tough buggers, but they are expensive

    and one i forgot

    13. fj20, just cause thats how motors should be built. but good luck finding one
