just wondering if lets say i get a turboed 4agte to do 100rwkw ,

would it feel the same as a 100rwkw tuned na 4age?

im assuming it all comes down to the tune right ?

will the 100rwkw 4agte still be a revy as the na 4age ?

the reason why i as is cause i know that going down the turbo path is alot cheaper, and getting more power down the track is easier , but for now i think 100 rwkw would be enough to allow a newbie drfiter and grip driver to learn the feeling of his or her car at its limits.

your stock 70kw 4age engine is enough for alot of fun, and to get to know your car. once you have done that then you can think about terbros etc...

thanks guys . i understand all that. and ive been on the track, and understand that its not all about power.

question is. does a turbo 4agte 100rwkw feel the same as a 100rwkw na 4age . ive never driven a turbo hachi or a 4agte.

and please im not a noob takumi wannabe on skool holydays ( for all who think of me that way, it not one of those threads. )

im just thinking, if i can buy a turbo'ed sprinter already with basic suspenion work it saves me from spending any more money on the car and spending money going to the track. plus buying a car with the ability to increase more power later on when i get better is, i think a bonus.

the car in question is this one

(hope you dont mind me using your link lewis) oh and lewis , sorry for dogging you last night. i had to turn around half way GF had an emergancy.

i dont know heaps bout turbo engines but 17psi with 170 sounds like alot of psi.

though if you got the cash man then buy it. get it tuned at a reliable 120 or something and go do skidz.

    looks like a decent buy.
all it needs is nice rims and strip the interior.

A turbo car and an n/a car will feel entirely different. With the n/a car it's predictable and linear. The power goes up the more you rev it in a linear fashion.
A turbo engine on the other hand starts off linear then goes exponential so you get the turbo rush. Where this kicks in depends on how much lag the turbo makes but when it does it's a lot of fun. The turbo will also offer a crapload of midload torque and a much better top end. It'll rev just as high as a stocko 4age but make a crapload more power up there.
A low boost turbo sprinter would be a great car to learn with on the track. You won't be forever kicking the clutch and putting huge stress on gearboxes or axles. 17psi sounds about right for that sort of power. My mates 1.5 litre ET makes 165kw on 16psi and that's fwd so less drive train loss. If you drop the boost on that motor to around 10psi or so you'd still have plenty of power.

^^^^^ my thought exactly!!! ..... umm i pretty sure i you could get a tune for a liner power band ... like the s15 and rx7.

the s15 imo has a good liner power band in stock form as with the rx7.

i gotta just say that i love the s15 6 speed gear ratio ... fucking awsome gear box to have when drving down a twisty road....

yeah... the plan is when the insurance pays me out im gonna go see this car and the first thing i do is most likly detune it and have two settings 100rwkw/ 150rwkw and thats more then enough.

ive heard from two mates, and experienced it aswell, that even a 4agte with a T25 or similar on about 6-8 psi goes VERY well and it chatters extremely loudly

if you have the money for turbo (and the license conditions to make it legal) i would diffinately do it, coz the perks of that is, if you want more power, wind up the boost.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (chapl @ Jan 8 2008, 01:13 PM) </div>I can't believe what I'm reading!
If anyone buys Lewis' car and de-tunes it or strips it out they are fkn stupid! And I know Lewis has put alot of time, money and effort into that thing, way to much to see it go to someone who won't/can't appreciate it for the COMPLETE machine it is! That thing is immaculate inside and out, and with 170kw atw why the fuck would you need to worry about weight reduction?
