now guys as the title states, I'm removing the bump strips from the side of my ke.

i managed to pull off the actual rubber strips themselves, but underneath the previous owner has used liquid nails/silicone/glue shit
to stick them back on after they had obviously come off beforehand.

so now I'm stuck with gluey jizz on my paint and i was wondering if u guys could recommend something that will be strong enough to remove
all of the crap left on my paint without damaging it.

and one last thing, the factory decals on the side of my car are gonig to be removed also, and i have tried just pulling them off but to no avail.
if anyone has any bright ideas involving the removal of them too, it would be incredibly helpful.
iv heard of a heat gun being used to heat them up so they are soft and then removing the decals, but the more possibilities the better imo.

so if anyone has done this previuosly and had success and/or failure i would be happy to hear from you.

    cheers
    todd.

ps i was tossing up putting this thread in here or tech questions and was unsure so mods please move if needed.

Hair dryer is your friend! Can use a bit of Presol or thinners to loose it up, also use a razor blade. You can actually get these scrapper looking things that have razors on them. Thats the best way to get em off, But i'd soak it in thinners/Presol for 30min to 60min then hair dryer it like its your yr6 disco!!

When i first got my AE71, i removed the CSX stripes from it using the thinners and razor blade method. It left scratches. It didn't bother me as i've always had intentions of re-painting the whole car, but if you aren't planning on re-painting i'd suggest to use what the panel beaters use, some kind of cheese cutter rubber wheel thingy. I've never used one or seen one but someone on here may be able to give you more info about them. Best of luck.

septone wax and grease remover, go around the car putting a coat on each strip every 2 minuits, put about 5 coats on each strip then wait a few minuits then a paint scraper will peel it straight off, then a cut and polish over where they were and your set:>

prepsol aka wax and grease remover will not damage the paint, whether u can see it or not fuel and other oil based solvents will damage the paint, in other words do not use any oil based chemicals especially fuels and solvents on ur paint.

    Thinners will even damage paint.

prepsol is cheap, doesn't hurt the paint, why not use it?
