Giving this thread a free bump.

-=-==- Updating post... Have written a review of the car, and PM'd Sprinter_Seth. He is happy for me to post my review in his thread -=-=-=-=-=

I'm going to give my go at reviewing the ae86 up for sale. I trekked to the lovely southside to investigate yesterday on, 20/4/08.

Owner: Nice bloke, very honest and open about the car. The good, the bad and the kinks here and there. Props to honesty.

It's a fine car, but runs on 98 -- something to maybe consider if your income is low -- as petrol ain't getting cheaper, and it will add up quick. Other things to consider are obviously rego and the main killer, insurance. This being said, from a Student, low income point of view. If you're loaded and keen as fuck for the AE86 lifestyle, this shouldn't be off putting!

    Points:
It had a little bit of rust, 3 main spots. This has been treated pretty much 100% --- and props to Sprinter_Seth for manning up and showing me the things wrong with the car -- instead of hiding it.

The Good: It's fast, low, and feels like a good ae86 does. It GOES!
The Bad: For me, I'm not that cluey on fixing up cars (eg. A bit here, a bit there, mainly TLC & minor garage work) If you have time and knowledge this shouldn't discourage you from buying
The price is at 8K which is okay, but personally out of my league (wallet isn't healthy atm) due to work and bills. It's apparently worth more, but I wouldn't know.

Overall: A solid mid range car. Not perfect at all, but if you can remember that this is a 1983 model, and the kinks you get from having such an old car, you should be able to get over it. Probably not the best for me, as it needs to be tweaked and tuned minorly (but for me this would involve numerous trips to the merchanic --> $$$ cause I know shit all about cars, and don't have time atm to fix one up). This thing is low, fast, sounds good and just needs some loving care. I've driven 2 ae86's now in my lifetime, this being the 2nd. That being said, the 1st was grommets red adm. It was okay, but this panda felt so much nicer. I can see how good this car could be if someone had the time and patience to just invest on it... It's just a shame I don't have the time to iron out the few minor kinks.

    Rate: 6/10 (now)
Could rate as high as a 7 or 8 -- after TLC etc etc.
It's a solid package now, but could be so much more if it got into the right hands / garage!

Hope the sale goes well, if anyone has questions either direct them to Sprinter_Seth, or myself in a PM.
