i guess save up until the end of the year and goes crazy on it...or buy another 20v and start working on it now...then jus drop it in at the end of the year
Hey all just wondering what is the best thing to do to get more power out of a silver top 20V. Just want to get more power out of it untill i can go nuts with turbo rebuild when i get off my P's at the end of the year. Cheers.

If you are serious you would get different camshafts and a programable computer. Anything short of this will only give mild results.
For mild results:
make sure it revs to 8000
free flowing 2" or 2-1/4" exhaust
cold air intake
new spark plugs
hi octaine fuel, maybe avgas
advance the timing a bit
^^^ cams and comp are a good option, and will come in handy in the future with ur turbo plans.
but instead of more power now, drive harder (not silly) and step ur level up over the yr. in the meantime start collecting ur goodies, another 20v to put the goodies in to is a very good idea, and at the end of the yr if all goes to plan u will everything u need to strap it all in the car, and use ur skills that u earned during the yr. just be smart about what u buy, what u need, and what u want, the can all be very different if u rush.
headwork.
i suggest getting a blacktop head becuase its already ported. get some larger cams and raise the compression
some interesting comments on this thread...
heres my personal opinion assuming that it has a stock ecu:
tune up
free flowing cold air intake
2.25 inch straight through exhaust
decent extractors (good luck!)
make sure the air-fuel meter, O2 sensor and speed sensor are all hooked up and working properly
aditional steps:
trd head gasket
head porting
and the biggest increase of them all: an aftermarket ecu
riojin: the blacktop head is a better casing but isnt "ported" from the factory. Also if you change the head your compression goes way down

how much are u planning on spending mate?
Well its already got a after market ECU. And just had it tuned at JEM. WAs thinkint towards cams but don't know the pro's and con's of loosing vvt. What are a set of decent cams worth?
keep the duration on the mild side and the VVT will be fine, either way more duration = less low down power

how many kw did you did you make at JEM on the dyno??
and i heard that they are very good in their work
