looking good....
good to see someone else cottoning on to the idea of 3tc turbo
mine was a blast while it lasted...considering doing it again, but with abit more effort this time....
yours is certainly an interesting way to do it...keep it up![]()
Awesome, good work!
You mentioned a 3T-GTE intake manifold, what's the go, is it a bolt on fit?
i don't think its a direct bolt on affair.....I'm pretty sure that the inlet manifolds were different between the 2t/3t/3tgte but the exhaust manifolds stayed the same![]()
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Meathead #1 @ Jul 13 2008, 06:06 PM) </div>Yeah those Americans must do it for some reason.
What happened to you last one??? Still trying to figure out what stock stuff i need to change to make it reliable.
The setup wasn't designed by me. Used to hate Carbies but the Stromberg is so simple even i can understand how it works.
Oil is my biggest problem atm as you can see in the pic. The return line is currently going down via the dipstick hole. The turbo is also drinking some oil and i have a feeling i may need to look at finding a carbon sealed turbo or converting this one.
Cheers for the encouragement :teehee:

Nah I thought it was but looking at some pics it's completely different.
Thinking for 200 for everything i should still get it and try and modify it with my new welder.
Then again the Stromberg is very nice.
Suggestions???
my 3tc turbo was a very primative sort of setup....i blew it up after about a week, but i still drove it around for another 2 months pouring smoke out the breather in the head and out the back of the exhaust....hahaha
i had mine as a completely stock 3tc that had done about 250,000k's...also had a blown head gasket before i started....
the main thing you need to do to keep it going is fuel, fuel, fuel....i was running mine into a 32/36 weber and only using a single Facet fuel pump (rated to 4psi), which meant that as soon as it came on boost the fuel would get pushed back down the lines....
don't forget that you will also need to "lock" your dizzy so it doesnt keep advancing when it comes on boost
for the oil return line, just get a fittting put into the sump on the exhaust side
for the oil feed, just run a line from the oil pressure sender on the inlet side of the block, along the bottom of the cross member and then up to the turbo
thats how i did it....
if i was to do it again i would definately add a Carby Fuel Pressure Regulator (needs to have a vacuum input) and a VL pump, just to keep up with the fuel needs
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Meathead #1 @ Jul 13 2008, 09:01 PM) </div>Ha ha sounds like you didnt want it to last long at all
Oil feed has already been t'd into the oil pressure sender. Will get the return welded in when the engine goes in for a refresh.
Do i need a fuel pressure regulator in a draw through setup??
Need to find a place to lock the dizzy or some info on how to do it myself.
not sure about regulator on a suck through setup as mine was blow through.....
yeh i didnt really care if it lasted hahaha
any good "mechanic" should be able to lock the dizzy for ya....if not, head down to a performance shop and see if they can help![]()
