on carsales there was a keto on dual fuel, and a couple months back, there was a 86 on there that had a 4AGTE on straight gas, not my cup of tea but yeah, its possible and has been done, dunno the details
A search brought up sweet FA... so I'm askin my stupid noob question's instead![]()
Just curious as if anyone has ran a 4ag or even 4ac on straight gas? toying with the idea on my daily which is currently 4ac and going the 4ag route in 12-18months. and thinking straight gas will do away with alot of the electrickery and emmissions stuff that's involved with the conversion and engineering....Has anyone had any experience doing this? what size mixer/convertor have you used? random throttle body adapted or custom manifold etc etc.
Got a couple of other questions but we'll see how this topic progress's to start with.
Cheers :2thumbs:

havnt seen it done, but wouldn't be hard. if you want to make a 4age conversion easier run twin carbs. after market ones don't use vac like stockos. if you want to have a 4age with shit power why don't you stick with the 4ac?

seriously though its not worth the hasle
4a-gte on gas ftw!
Gas has an extremly high knock resistance(great for forced induction), and if you tune cam timing and ignition timing soley for gas, you won't loose out on much performance compared to similar petrol motors
when you put straight gas through a turbo engine you can run more boost safely. if you were going to put it on a NA engine i'd say youd be wasting your time.
also twin carbs FTW
A friend of a friend bought an AE86 with a 4AGTE running on pure gas, might be the one mentioned above. The thing apparently was gun, and rightly so. As said above, basically it allows you to run higher boost levels without knocking, leaning problems etc and still produce good amounts of power too. And this was a pro job, not a McDodgy one... full tank in the boot, proper gas - intake mechanism, the lot. So it can be done, and I would say most gas conversion places would be able to do it, its just a question of finding one with the right experience/suggestions for your particular build.
4AGE is here! Cheers 44GTE and Anthony for your help! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/fo...ad.php?t=10384

What am I doing right now? Twitter me!
For forced induction it's awesome. A bit of work to install, but awesome.
I'm not sure it'd be so great for NA, but you can do it.
And man up, electrics are easy. Time consuming, but easy. So don't use that as a reason to go gas.

how much gas would you use compared to fuel in a turbo setup ?
