just bought an AE86 have some questions
I just got me an AE86 Trueno and I have a few basic questions:
- how do I tell If I have a GTV or a GT Apex model?
- how do I operate the popup headlights?
- was there any badges on the rear?
- what were the orginal colours it was sold in? I'm only aware of the two-tone
red/black and white/black for GT Apex and silver for GTV.
- did each model come with a different type of wheels?
- what were the optional extras?
- did the digital dash only come with the GT Apex model?
- I have a blue/white door and seat trim but red dash, is that normal or should it be blue as well?

No, only stickers, not real badges as such

There is a lot of them, look in the Tech articles section for more info on colors and paint codes
cheers, thats very helpful. also one important question - does the 4age use leaded or unleaded fuel?

headlight control is the top right dial it has headlight icons.
check in the engine bay on the firewall on the card it should say the orginal colour and other information
Always run 98 octane also, the Japanese ECU's are designed to run high octane fuel.
Whats the model code on the build plate?
Something like this, AE86-FCPVF
Google it and click on car-net.jp/car_spec/toyota/trueno
as trueno85 said the headlight is the knob on the right. if you want the headlights to stay up but the lights to be off (say changing bulbs), turn them all the way on and then push the knob in and it turns one more click.

are you from adelaiade? if you are you must of bought that green and black one from carsales...i went to look at it on that day and he called saying its sold to some buy from adelaide from the looks of it...it does look like a jdm gt apex seats electrics digi dash cud b wrong tho..

yep I'm from Adelaide, and i did buy the green and black one from Melbourne. I checked the code (FCMVF) so its a GT Apex model. I'll post some pics up sometime soon
