Hi, Welcome,
I think there may have been a thread almost identical to this recently.
Hello all!
I am new to these cars, just bought a oz manufactured ae86 and am wondering if anyone is willing to give me a rundown on the model types and typical differences i.e. Zenki, Kouki etc.. me being a nube I am not sure what these are other than the obvious that they are a model of 86
until I have such information it makes it difficult to purchase parts, or modify in anyway, not knowing what im getting or if its compatible, so any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated!
im sure others who aren’t as much in the know may appreciate this kind of information also
Thanks

In Jay-Pan:
Zenki = Early Model 83-84
Kouki = Later Model 85-87
Aussie model is basically the Zenki model just with the 4AC and not a 4AG
Between Zenki and Kouki, there isn't overly that much difference mechanically. However the axles are different and not interchangeable one has 21 splines the other has 23.
Also the Aussie sprinter came with an S Series Diff where as Jay-Pan Cars had T Series.
Though basically everything will be interchangeable.

zenki and kouki are japanese words used in english sentances ... i think the americans started this "trend", from what i can gather.
early and late models have cosmetic differences such as bumpers and lights etc.
lol at white people in japan. just lol.
