    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Johnny_K @ Mar 12 2008, 11:50 PM) </div>for new bearings/crucshtube: pinion is about 8-10nm after break-away(without carier fitted), 4-5nm if you using old bearings
carrier should be nipped up tight, then backed off 2 -3 notches(more if old bearings). then set lash and contact. about .2 to .4 of a mm for lash(again more if old).
then contact: to much heel, move the wheel....blah, blah, blah, I'm sure you can find a tooth contact chart.

edit: these arn't exact toyota specs, just an idea. i usually set them up by feel. but if someone has a workshop manual just for peice of mind

i set my pinion up similarly, but with the carrier bearing preload i use a dial indiactor on the opposite aldjuster you are winding in, and when the free play is out it will start reading on the dial indicator, then as per toyota used bearings give it one extra knotch and new give it two knotches......as far as the back lash goes factory specs are .13mm to .17mm........i always check the back lash in a minimum of 4 places, often one will be good and the others will be way off.....if this happens i rotate the crown wheel on the diff and recheck.....

i enjoy setting up toyota diffs, cause its easy to get it the way you want it....compared to borg warners
