I have to agree here, the air temp sensor is there for a good reason and anything else is a comparmise at best and at worst a blown engine.

Why don't you just lock the ignition, and batch fire the injectors too. In my opinion you should take full advantage of the features available to you or you are just flushing the money down the toilet. If you feel different, thats fine by me. Gives me an advantage.

well I don't know about other ECU's but the wolf ECU uses a generic holden one. Ask the maker of the ecu whats compatable

i can use any i geuss as it has 1 signal wire for air temp and shares the earth with the map and coolant temp sensors, does the holden one have a 2 pin type sensor????

Pretty sure adaptronic an use any old one. Might need to calibrate. Try the adaptronic forum for some answers.
yeah i wouldn't be suprised if i could use the old one, but i sold me jdm rwd manifold a while ago and don't have a air temp sensor any more, think of raiding the wreckers
