K so my nan bought this T18 brand new in 1979. She died in 1992 and She gave it to my dad. My dad then gave it to my little brother, who basically rally'd it and trashed it. Then the alternator went on it and the battery kept going flat, so my brother just dumped it in the backyard and left it there. So i thought i would pull it out of the grass and start fixing it up.

    Rust is aplenty. Pics below.

    Plans:-
    Fix all rust and respray
    Mild 4age na.
    Brake upgrades disc rear.
    Stereo
    17 inch rims.

it will be like a daily driver with reasonable power. I wont be drifting it or anything. Kinda just like, respect for my grandma to fix it up since its been rotting away. I'm hoping it will turn out good.

Heres pics of it now. And some of the rust i have cut out of it.

As you can see its been sitting for quite some time.

Some weeds made their way thru the bonnet lol. I also found a blue tongue lizard sitting on the front engine crossmember, heh.

Good old 3T-C, Shame it has to go.

Moved it under the carport where it will stay for months no doubt. New Guard and front bar needed. The ones off the black wreck arent bad so i'll be using them.

Bit of rust in the back lol.

I cut all that rust out, ready for a new plate. (painted it black to stop rust while i waited for welder (borrowed off a mate)

I bought this T18 from the local wreckers for $250. its a pathetic rust bucket with no rear axles, but parts for these are gettign very very rare and its got spare parts all in the back of it, so i have like 3 of every chrome strip, spare windows, spare dash, etc etc.

I cut this piece out to repair the rust in the other one.

    Plate welded in.

Will keep the thread updated as time goes by. it will probably take most of the year and $8k before its done i reckon.
The interior on the one from the wreckers is black so i'll be swapping that over and adding small trims in the same colour i paint it. Like inserts in the doortrims etc.
The current interior is blue so it kinda limits my options for outside colour, but black will go with pretty much any colour.

Ive done a fair bit so far this weekend.

    Pics can do the talking.

    Engine is out.

Still a fair bit of junk to come out.

Note the rust behind the brake booster etc.

Brake booster removed ready to get at the rust.

Dash, steering column, pedal box etc all out.

Note the rusty battery tray, its gonna be removed and battery is going in the back.

All rust removed from around brake booster.

Battery tray removed and some bog is in there to take up any imperfections in the surface from grinding etc.

Front apron/radiator support (whatever you call it) sanded back ready for primer. Note brake booster area primed.
Also note engine crossmember and steering system has been removed.

So thats it, I'm pretty happy with the progress so far.
Theres that many car parts stashed everywhere its not funny. Its amazing they can fit that many parts into a vehicle.

    To be continued....
