    Hey all,

Found my master cylinder leaking today, have heard of people swapping these with R32 skline items.
My question is has anyone here done it and what does it do to pedal feel ect?
Braking stuff on my car is standard ADM stuff at the moment.I did a search and couldnt find anything on it......
Or i could just be blind

    Cheers for any help.

don't put a skyline master cylinder in your car if your brakes are stock.

you will lock up the brakes everytime you touch the pedal.

basically the r32 item is needed if you put massive calipers on your car. they require more fluid to be pushed into them, this is what the skyline item does.

i would ring ajps for a new master cylinder, they have them on the shelf. replacement item, brand new

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (slide86 @ Mar 23 2008, 09:05 PM) </div>You sure about that? If a skyline master is larger than a stock master, you get more feel, less travel but also less power. Yes, that's right, less power.

The reason people upgrade to a a larger master is to keep the ratio correct when upgrading to larger/multi piston wheel cylinders/calipers. A small master can run out of travel before large wheel cylinders/calipers move enough to apply full braking power, and pedal feel is also diminished and thus a larger master is required for larger wheel cylinders/calipers.

But the advice is the same, don't bother upgrading the master. And unless you go crazy on the calipers (rx7 or skyline) you shouldn't need to upgrade the master either. It should be fine with say ra60 or cressida calipers.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (reecegze @ Jul 7 2008, 10:22 PM) </div>There are two different types of master cylinder that you can get. One has two out lets ports (ABS) and the other has three (NON ABS). You can use both but if you use the two outlet version you only need to mod one brake line and remake another shot one that goes to the master cylinder. And don't forget to check the pushrod length! If you use the three port version you will need to do a bit more work with brake lines. Its easiest if you get the two port master cylinder.

P.S. I found that there are some issues with brake line clearance when used on GZE engined AE86s
