oh and with the evo suspension I was very carefull with my words earlier when I said "they naturally have", I was being sneaky and saying they don't necessarily have but naturally have a tendacy for it. I know any quirk can be ironed out with stability control/weird electronic suspension crap like the EVO's

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Sam_Q @ Apr 24 2008, 10:23 PM) </div>But an evo is quicker than a murcielago around a track. (ref topgear, race driver at wheel of murcielago, media hack at wheel of evo)
The understeer/oversteer probs they have are obviously less of a problem than the limited grip afforded by a rwd platform.

The answer is probably that it is easier to drive a late model, sports, turbo, awd platform fast than it is to drive a 20 year old grandma car in the same manner.

I don't mean to be condescending sam, but if you could explain that would be good. I would have thought that real world performance is the only thing that matters? What may or may not theoretically happen is not all that relevant.

    yeah no problem:

ok when you initually said that awd has no oversteer or understeer I exlained that naturally (as in no fancy extras like stability control) awd cars exibit entree understeer and exit oversteer. In real world use this can be tweaked to hide/overcome this by all sorts of tricks. For example I believe the evo uses more than just LSD's but active torque biasing betwen wheels to overcome its flaws. My point is just because a car behaves in a very positive way means that a rule can be made that its design is the most ideal for certain things. For example it would be like assuming that because suzuki swift rally car handle in a nautral way that all FWD cars are lke that. So if you get an evo and take all the fancy bits out and any devices that limit slip I think you would have a car that would be tricky to drive properly.

Look I am not good at explaining this, so does itmake sense?

    Makes sense Sam.
I still think a new, awd sports, turbo car is going to shit all over a 23 year old corolla with 130hp 4age and adjustable shocks.
