Matthew Cullen rallies his AE86 coupe
J
Hey all,
I'm doing a bit of research at the moment and was wondering if you could all post up links, info, pictures etc etc about anything AE86s have done to do with rallying. I know there are a few people on here using or building rally 86's so i will be picking your brains rather soon but please post what ever you have so i can start things off with some extra information.
Thanks :2thumbs:

I've got a racing car news magazine with a ae86 rally car on the cover, had just won some big aus rally,
think drivers name was Bell. I'll scan some of it in.
Also has coverage of the Spa 24 hr race, were holdens won the team prize for
finishing 18th, 22nd, 23rd places.
A "toyota corolla" finished 8th.![]()
Bob holden raced at this event in a ae86 aswell.
lol a guy in archerfield does rally, i don't see how a ae86 can do rally without bending a strut or chassis, must take alot of strengthening and in the end it would be easier to rally a s13 or r32

Ben's car has all the usual stuff that you would do to a street AE86, but with reliability first. Suspension is upgraded to something suitable for rally purposes (Bilstiens maybe?), bashplates, a cage, proper (non reclining) race seats, hydraulic handbrake, terratrip and terraphone added. Whack on some rally tyres and appropriate stickers and you are away.
It seems to go quite well almost every time I see him in the forest, except for the one time I went past him after he broke a CWP. He certainly has fun, which is what its all about.
local lad from home rallys an ae86

Should have some nice pic's to go with it.![]()

Ever heard of a rollcage? Most people I know of who are into rallying drive ke20s, ke70s, or ke55s. Not a lot of stiffness there, lol. I bet theyd all do better in an s13 eh bro. You want a bit of a soft ass end in a rally car anyhow.
