    Hi guys,

pretty new to the car and hasn't been driven much. It's my ae86 with a 4age rwd. When looking into the engine bay i noticed that the crankshaft pulley wasn't in line with the waterpump pulley and the alternator. The runs OK, pretty slow and i think it may be a large issue.
Does it need adjusting or has the previous owner just put on a different kind?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Not good. It seams the previous owner has mis-matched some parts.

Maybe you have a RWD waterpump, with a FWD waterpump pulley. In this case, you need to buy a RWD waterpump pulley either new from Toyota, or secondhand. The part number to buy this is in the Tech Articles section.

There are other posabilies. It is probably due to mixing FWD and RWD parts.

Crank pulleys are interchangeable between fwd and rwd. It'll be either the waterpump itself OR the pulley on the waterpump.

You need to use the shallower pulley on the shorter pump (fwd setup) or the deep pulley on the longer pump for the rwd. Try not to use a clutch fan on the fwd setup as it lacks the extra bearing to cope with the load.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Big T @ May 3 2008, 10:58 PM) </div>i know that the water pump pulley is definatly the correct RWD Pulley. I think the issue is just the Crank pulley.
How much do they cost and is it an easy part to change?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (car @ May 7 2008, 10:24 AM) </div>with closer inspection i think it may be the waterpulley as it's alot shallower than i expected.
Is the crank pulley ok though?

yeah, just the water pump pulley needs to be changed to rwd. Probably a fwd engine with a rwd water pump so it could retain the clutch fan I think Kaizen Garage have the rwd water pump pulleys
