yr22 f series tarago diff lsd's

Hey guys what model cars could i use an lsd from for the yr22 tarago f seires diff ? I am currently getting my diff converted for my ae86 and wanting to see if there is a good strong factory lsd availiable. Reason i ask they seem so exspenive to make the wrong choice would hurt my bank..

In a F series you can use a used MA61 lsd, but the condition would be unknown and the cost of buying plus rebuilding would get you near the price of a new truetrac. Talk to Draven on toymods, he got me a truetrac for $700.
There really isn't a cheap way with lsd's. After you buy it, it's a good idea to replace the bearings in the carrier and pinion and they are not cheap. Also, you should have it set up by a diff joint unless you know how to set the backlash/alignment.

Oh, and i'm lead to believe that the McLaren F1 road car runs a torsen diff system.

Certain 4WD toyota vans have F series rear ends with OEM lsd's as well. i guess you could be lucky and find one in reasonable condition. but it is expensive to have work down on them after the fact.

What is the application? I'm yet to hear of a true trac used in drift circles but I'd like to know how well they work. My MX5 had a torsen and seemed quite progressive when drifting.

its for my ae86 4agte ... i had an encounter with a diff specialist trying to tell me that the tarago isnt the way to go... and that it would be hard to fit a good lsd for it

he is probably thinking you have an E series, (also mostly found in tarago's) which is 7.1 or 7 can't remember, anyway, hes right about that, their arent any good lsds for those.

pretty much you can get every available desireable LSD for an F code toyota diff.

every JDM aftermarket brand. truetrac, detroit locker, ARB air locker ect.

umm is there a way to tell the difference between a E series and an F series tarago diff ??? Also anyone got an f series for sale ????

I'm not 100% sure, but i believe the number of splines is different, I'm not sure what E diffs are, but I'm pretty sure the F is 27 spline (can check F but not E)
Or measure the crown gear, E is 7 inch, F is 7.5 inch.

i can say for sure, e series has the same flange pcd (where the t'shaft bolts up) as T and S series.

F I'm pretty sure is bigger.

E has same number of splines on the axles as S and T, and the axles are actually about .5mm less O.D at the splines, than kouki T series.

F are massive.

I just thought of it this morning.
Use an ms112 crown F series and get it shortened. Best is to pull an axle, take it to a diff specialist and tell them you need each side shortened by about 20mm and they'll tell you if there is enough meat on the axle to respline it at that length. These axles are ford stud pattern (5x114.3) so your wheel choice opens right up. Use the xt130 struts and hubs off a ms65 and you get the whole car in 5 stud.
And, as if that wasn't enough good shit, the ms112 rears are disc already.

I think slydar is right about the F series flanges being different but I think this is only true for the tarago and other van F series diffs. The mx13 (corona) one I have is the same flange bolt pattern as a ra40/60 etc t series.
