Any problems with running nothing? I'm running ram tubes (16mm short), but was thinking of some wire mesh just to be on the safe side.

socks are just like little air filters over an otherwise open throttle body.

you see 4 of them because, its a QUAD throttle body...

trumpets are just little flanges over each TB and they look cool but don't do much about keeping shit out of ur intake

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (fusion @ May 26 2008, 09:30 PM) </div>no no problem with running anything at all, just always drive on bitumen that has been swept so there is not 1 single bit of dust/dirt on the road for you.
wire mesh is good, will keep all those rocks out of your intake.

run a filter or nothing, whichever you like.
mesh is shithouse though, doesnt filter shit all, and disturbs your airflow.

TA22max on toymods dynoed a 90rwkw 2tg/3t hybrid running itb's with and without socks. Noticed an increase of less than half a kw. (same dyno, runs made 20 mins apart, no changes other than socks on/off). Well worth it for the filtering, especially if you are on the track and someone stirs up the kitty litter in front of you.

Sam, maybe your mate over oiled his socks and restricted the airflow?

I've found it takes a bit of a magic touch to get the amount of oil right, having oiled foam dirtbike filters hundreds of times has helped me find the correct amount.

I seem to be getting confused with what you're asking re; CAI and pod filter.

Individual trottle bodies are the level up from cold air induction and a pod filter. Keep running the filter socks, if you took the throttlebodies off and put on a standard plenum with a pod etc and you'll notice and decrease in acceleration (From what I've heard).

Individual throttles with socks are the way to go, unless you want to spend money getting a plenum made up so it will clear brake booster/clutch master and you'll only notice a slight difference between the two. Just rig up some hose from the front bar to around the quads and that's about as far as I'd go.

Search for threads on quads, few guys have come up with ways to stop dirt, reduce heat etc..

Also in relation to factory plenum, you'll probably find your ram tubes/stacks are longer and better for performance, hence why the plenum isn't on anymore.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dish @ May 27 2008, 12:41 PM) </div>hmm you seem to be missunderstanding me.

i have what i thought to be called the plenem which goes over the 4 throttle bodies and bolts onto the end on them. it then has an inlet which you can put a pod on the end of... ill take some photos oof what i mean.. soz for the confusion

Nah, I read you loud and clear command center.

Fair enough, I like the sound and look of quads, plenum's give a bit of a difference, mainly due to the heat side. It will be a little more restricting though.

I thought you were referring to the standard plenum.
