On channel 7s Today tonight they had a bit about highway patrol that book people speeding with no real evidence that is needed to be provided in court.

Some of these rules are for your case to be valid

    1. They must be locked on to your vehicle for 3 seconds while your speeding
    2. The car must be stopped while locked on to your vehicle
    3. There can't be any cars around you.
    4. If you are caught speeding you must have that "you are now being taped" speech by the copper or then its not valid

Never got done for speeding by a copper but once by a mobile van.
Pretty good record considering I've driven fast since 2000.
I just seem to spot them a mile away but even monkey's fall from trees (hence the single photo ticket).
I've had some close one's though that I've talked my way out of.

yeah never been done here, still on 12points

those rules are interesting, 3 seconds is a very long distance when your doing 100km/h

ive been caught doing 24 over on my p's two years ago, those rules are interesting but sometimes you just have to admit your wrong and cop it...

The more people fight it the more theyll focus on making it tougher for people to weasel out of it and just generally make it tougher for younger people that are on the road

Never had a fine for any thing but defects (5 of them)... Since I been on my opens / had my hachi.
Only ever had one fine before that for undue noise... in a standard 1994 corolla.

    I can see it now.....

Me: "I'm sorry officer barney, you didn't point that camera at me for three seconds"
Officer Barney: "Yeah I did isn't that right officer Lenny?"
Officer Lenny: "You sure did, hey did you know we're considered a public authority, that means we can issue summonses without needing anyone else as a witness?"
Officer Barney: "Thats awesome, I know! let's issue some now!"
Me: "okay guys who wants sloppy seconds?"

The moral of Micks fable: All those rules are there to ensure that police do a proper job. As there are zero full proof ways to check that they are followed the police do not do a proper job.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (damo46 @ May 26 2008, 06:14 PM) </div>And you have the right to record the conversation too, even if they protest.

But hey, for the most part, if you are speeding and you know it, you will go 'Yeah, I was, I'll pay the fine', its a lot less painful that way.
