hi a while go in a random thread
i read someone had removed their AC compressor but was still running power steering i wanted to do the similar(remove weight) just wondering what belt they used...
if you can shed some light on which belt/or choosing a belt...

a part number would be the perfect :2thumbs:

hey man, you prolly arent gonna find a specific part number for that...but there is hope...

basically with belts...the part number describes the belt

you have how many "ribs" there are (usually 3 or 4), if its a ribbed belt. if not then i guess they have some way of describing it.

and you have the actual length of the belt. (circumference of it)

your best bet is figuring out how long you need it, by either using a spare belt you got lying around and cut it to size, or even just a peice of string and measuring.

then just go to repco and ask for the specific belt. you may end up having to trial and error a bit untill you get the right one. annoying yes, but its all part of the fun.

i kinda used this method when i had to get a belt for my mates GTR, they didnt have it on the computer, so just had to get how many ribs it had, and the length of it. and they had various lenghts, going up in 5mm increments (ie 4 ribs, 335mm, 340mm, 345mm etc..)

hope this gives you an idea!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ae86=fun @ Jul 2 2008, 04:23 PM) </div>If this is on an JDM AE86 engine its pretty easy, as far as I know the model without the aircon but still with power steering used exactly the same P/S pump and bracket. Hence there is a belt to suit its just shorter.

These should be correct for the JDM AE86:
    99365-50910 or 99365-80910

    Either should work.

If this is on a FWD engine its another story altogether, as far as I am aware all FWD 4AGE's (at least the 16v variety) had the belt tensioner on the aircon bracket or had a different P/S bracket if aircon wasn't included on the car. So if you are pulling off the compressor and leaving the bracket with tentioner you'll have to do some measuring.
