Damien, there's a massive thread on toyymods.net that goes over all the "possible" options for oversized valves
I think 7MGTE ones came fairly close to being the easiest/best bet....
Sup lads,
Just doing some scrummaging around at work looking at valve sizes for my 4A. I've read a few places about using 3SFE or 7mGE valves.
I measured some valves up at work and I got 3sfe + 0.5mm.
But what I was wondering was if 3sfe valves are the same length as 3sge valves as I found a set of aftermarket RB26 valves that are identical to 3sge valves that would give me .010'' clearance between the inlet valves. Pretty sweet eh?
Now are they longer then 3sfe valves?
If not, what oversize valves have you handsome mother fuckers used before?
Cheers,
Damien???

the other question is if its a really good idea to "upgrade" the valve sizes
30kw club
thatd be a big yes. they start to make ALOT of sense when shooting for more than 180hp, and are pretty much a necessity to get past 200.
the 7m valves are ok, but apparently the S series ones are a nicer shape on the back of the valve.
theres a bloke on here with the SN slidy86. his dad is an engine builder who works at PLR and also builds/does porting on alot of small capacity race engines maybe pm him.

wel yeah if your going over those power figures, might cause all sorts of issues if your not aiming for that, according to Bill sherwood: you will lose power.
So I guess it begs the next question, whats your plans Damien?
30kw club
Well Samuel,
My plans are in the reach of 200+hp. The idea is thusfar: 7 rib block, silvertop crank - linished, cryo, balanced like bejebus, H Beam rods, 11.2:1 forgies, 288* x 10.5mm cams, cam gears, shim under buckets, springs, oversize valves, silvertop quads, FGK (remember the exhaust thread Mr Q?, That's the brand of my manifold. JASMA just kicked in) exhaust manifold, exhaust, ECU......
I realise this is an expensive operation... But I'm young, an engine builder with rich grandparents who love me...
That's the plan.
The reason I ask is because of those RB26 valves, they are the same as 3SGE valves. The only head we had to compare it with was a 4AFE where they were touching in the seats, but I reckon the GE will have more space.
The matter now just comes down to valve protrusion. It appears that GE valves are longer then FE... we'll see what can come of this radical agreement.
And 70XIN, bring like.... every chick you know who loves the cock to my place, bring that steak you owe me and 4 smirnoff blacks, I wanna see you.... you know.... ahahahaha.... I know.
Cheers lads, quite helpful you are indeed..

Yeah I mean, I have the money... I also have an addiction to five star hotel rooms and whisky... See my reason for going for the cheapest?
But yes, your probably right...
Any ways, the thing with these 26 valves was just to see if it was doable... So I could sell 'em if I don't use 'em....
So do we know whether there is a difference in length between 3sfe and 3sge valves?
It's gonna be sweet but, we got a Newen Contour valve seat cutter at work... CNC valve seats, in theory I can do a 100 angle valve seat...

lo_rolla: thats the first time someone has called me Samuel on here before. Anyway it sounds like a mean package your building. The later 4afe head does indeed have less space between the valves from what I could tell. Would that compression be enough though? I mean with those cams I would think your staic compression would drop a fair way.
Dimitri: don't think its right? I would like to hear what you think. Beats me whats right or wrong as despite what people on this forum seem to think I don't have much engine experience.
