You don't need a JDM T50 but it would be a good idea.
You can also use ADM AE86 T50 or an AE71 T50.
I'm looking at buying a jdm bigport 4age off a member of this forum, it doesnt come with a gearbox so I'm gonna have to source one from a wreckers (salisbury wreckers isnt bad fyi), ive read that theres both a 19 and 21 spline variants of the T50, ive never had anything to do with the T50 as my ke70 is auto (nearly crashed like 5 times cos it pops outta gear in the wet) also considering the engine is jdm, do i need a jdm gearbox too? any help is appreciated![]()

hey thanks for the reply, thats good news cos i wasnt looking forward to buying a jdm t50, also, why is it a good idea? stronger internals or something? also, would i need the 19 or 21 spline? is there anyway you can tell that with the info ive given? its a jdm bigport 4age
Have a read through this for the differences:
If this is going into an 86 I presume? Both ADM or JDM T50's will bolt straight up tailshaft n all. And I think it's the same situation for an AE71 T50...
Unsure on what spline number they are, but its the same all round.
ah its actually going in a ke70, i WISH i had an ae86 , thanks for the info 8)
There is NO difference between JDM and ADM T50 internal gears. The only difference is the Bellhousing, which the clutch slave cylinder is on the Drivers Side (JDM), which means that the clutch line is away from the Exhaust, which is a GOOD thing. The ADM bellhousing has the slave on the passenger side, which means the clutch line is near the exhaust.
In saying that, there has been debate over JDM boxes having stronger 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears, but its not worth worrying over.
An ADM gearbox is fine, just get a JDM bellhousing if you really want to.
EDIT: Link above says this anyway, My bad.
The smaller spline is with a t50 found in t18 rollas, the ones you get your diffs out of
Adm/Jdm same/same
