changing points, what is the correct gap?

hi,
i repalced my points, dizzy cap, button and leads yesterday on my 4AC.
and it was running sweet.

got up this morning to drive to footy....and it won't start.
it ticks over but doesn't ignite.
seems that i might not be getting any spark??? but i don't know for sure.

i unplugged the main lead from the coil, and don't seem to get any spark(as i was holding the metal connector end and didn't shocked.

a mate of mine told me that coils rarely die, so my question is what do i do next?

-i've checked the fuses...all good.
-gap is good...set at 0.45
-leads all plugged in correctly
-sparks are practically new

so what does anyone think it could be? as i am stumped!
could it be the coil?
condenser?

any help would be awesome, as i kind of need to fix the car ASAP.

found some info.....hope this helps others

Owners Manual states: 4AC engine Australia uses 97 octane and 4AGE engine uses 98 octane. Just incidental information for you.
The Service specs are: Ignition timing 4A & 4AC engine; 5 deg btdc @ (MAX 900 rpm auto). Distributor rubbing block gap; 0.45 mm (0.018")
Dwell angle; 52 degrees. Spark plug gap 0.8 mm(0.031") NGK; BP5EY or N12YC. points GD214

Engine O'haul Manual & experience says for Nippondenso maggie: dwell between 46 and 58 (52) degrees. rubbing block gap 50 deg=(0.011") & 48deg=(0.012").
Timing set 3-7 deg BTDCat idle speed of 750rpm. And set the damping-spring gap to 0.1 to 0.4 mm (0.004 to 0.016"). with vacuum advance connected to the ported pipe on the carby.

You can measure the actual gap between the points when they are open, or you can measure the rubbing block to shaft gap when the points are closed. Either method seams to work.

You can check and adjust this with a dwell meter but that may be hard to find. I don't have a dwell meter, but maybe I should.

You can bump the ignition timing up to 10 degrees if you want.

Quickest and easiest fix would probably be to just go grab an electronic dizzy out of a 4AC AE82 and bin the points all together.

is it just a direct swap?
i'll see how much it will set me back.

Yeah, I think you'll have to mod the wires slightly, but everything bolts together fine.

does anyone know what wires i need to mod or has anyone done a write up/tech article?
