why did you change the gap ? no spark sorry to state the obvious.
I changed the gap in the points to 0.5mm what ke70dave told me to change it to and now my car wont start at all. I looked at the spark plugs to see if there was any spark and there didnt seem to be. Can anyone help me as i need it for school. Thanks Troy

Turn ignition on, check you have 12volts at the coil with a multimeter. Check all high tension leads, resistance and how they are fitted. Rotor turns clockwise. Firing order, 1-3-4-2.
Put piston one at TDC. Check rotor faces No.1 plug lead etc...
Put crank at 10 degrees, turn ignition on, take dizzy cap off, turn dizzy till you see the pionts arc etc...

i had this problem a few times
points seem to do random crap.
a few times ive changed mine, and it hasnt started or sparked, so ive taken them out, and done it again, and its been fine
how did you adjust them, did you make sure you adjusted them when the cam inside the dizzy pushing them appart?
just whatever you do...don't put your screwdriver on the points with ignition on..get a nasty surprise and you can't feel your arm for about 30mins...
also make sure you didn't put any oil on the contacts of the points, that can bugger things up to.

Make sure that the points are clean. If you were adjusting them, you may have left a film of dirt, grease etc on them. Give them a clean and see how it goes. I had a similar problem once when I replaced my points. Put brand newies in and it had no spark. Tried everything and it still wouldn't spark. Eventually, cleaned the points and, what do you know, had a spark again. Might be worth a shot.

Ill go give them a quick sand now and hopefully this worksthanks mate.
Sand and THEN give it a quick wipe with a rag to remove any sandpaper/metal residue. :2thumbs:
Well that didnt work. Ill just replace all the points plugs and leads i spose. Cars can be a c**t really.
replace condensor also if you are really replacing everything.
But replacing everything is not really needed if you actualy know how to check and adjust things.
