I got a t-series which was from what i was told a t-18, and the diff centre was from a ra40. I installed new bearings on the axles, and when i went to bolt the r/h axle in it would seize the bearing, i tried the other axle and the same deal. Both axles had been shaved already.
After trying a few things, including putting in another 4.11 geared centre from a ra28, i evenually found out that the axle was bottoming out on the splines in the diff centre ie; the axle was going in to far and the splines wernt long enough.
So i cut a little ridge were the splines finish and all is good. I only had this drama on the r/h/s, the left axle is longer and doesnt seize.
So brings me to my first question, are the right and left axles meant to be a different length?
Could i have the wrong axles? Maybe i have axles from a celica that has a longer wheel base?
I would like to get down to the bottom of this before i put my new lsd and gearing in, so any imput is much appreciated :2thumbs:
Cheers.
