thats going to be pretty hard to fit those size wheels on stock guards without it lookin like 4wd
Hello everyone,
Today i went to check out the AE71 that i am looking at buying and it is clean and in Great condition for being a 20+ year old car.
Toyota Corolla ae71 with 176,000k's on her and has only done 12 in the last 4 years
Anyway i will be picking up the old girl Tuesday this week and thats when the fun begins with modding to come very shortly after, the body is what i am aiming for first then the motor will come because that needs some thinking and learning before i go ahead with that!
Body:
SSR Mark III
15x8-14 - 15x9.5-33(don't know how i will go with this on stock guards but i am going to achieve it somehow!)
Looking to change the front end to the flat style ke70 with the round style headlights...
(If you have some information about this or something for sale please could you pm me)
Looking for some Jap tail lights, the standard just with the polished section around the outa side of the lights!
Engine:
I am not sure what to do here yet, i am thinking either the 20v Silvertop Silvertop or just going the old Slap a turbo on the 4k! But once again i am trying to find places to read abot this and learn some before i go ahead and buy stuff![]()
(Once again please pm if you can help out or give me a idea about this)
That is about it at this stage, all things will come along slowly but time will show hopefully a nice car. Anyway pictures below of the old girl as she sits atm.

Hi.
Wheels -
So basically you will need bolt on guards at an absolute minimum. like +50mm. Someone work it out.
Quadlights -
You need -
Pair of Early model (flat front) front quarter panels.
Flat front bonnet.
Flat front scuttle if you want it to look right.
Quadlight beaver panel.
Quadlights.
Quadlight parkers
Quadlight grille.
And someone who is handy with a soldering iron to wire it up
Motor -
There's no such thing as a silvertop 16v
Most common are -
4AGE -
- 'Bigport' 88kw
- 'Smallport' 100kw
4AGZE
-Supercharged 4age, they are floating around with both bigport and smallport heads.
4AGE 20v
-'Silvertop' Earlier model, cheaper, quad throttle bodies, 5v per cylinder etc etc
-'Blacktop' Later model, pricer, larger quads, higher compression etc etc
4AG'T'E
-A non-factory turbocharged version of any of the above
All have their pros and cons, it's your car, you choose.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div> nice looking car all looks good and the motor is a 4AC not a 4k.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NathanHann @ Aug 9 2008, 07:29 PM) </div>Well there junior, the badging suggest it's a slant front KE70.
Unless it's had the engine changed, which he failed to mention. Odd that.
Haha i told you i was new to this
Oh well its a good learning curb and gets me to start knowing stuff. Yeah i know the wheels are massive but i am trying to make something different. The motor can wait for the time being and once the body is finished i will work on that and do my research.
Cheers for the feedback!
checked this thing out yesterday, one of the cleanest ke70's ive seen, very neat and a minta granny spec car
Picked up the Quad lights i have been waiting for now just have to find the flat front ke style front end...
Have a set of 15x8-4 Superlights in Charcoal coming which should be here tomorrow and going to get some new springs for the beast.
She will be dumped on the superlights and once i find the front end i will be bogging small parts up that need it and flairing the guards and then bring on the new colour (Yet to decide though) - Hopefully looks tuff when i am finished, after all it is just a daily
Cheers barnzy
