hey all, I wanted to introduce myself, matt, and my new car, just off the boat and compliancing now.
i bought it when i was in japan earlier this year and sent it home ahead of myself.
really looking forward to registration and finally getting into a sprinter.

car spec; AE86 Trueno Sprinter GT-Apex Model.

heres a photo of the car at compliance.. its very dirty as it literally just got delivered..

really happy with the car so far, no rust whatsoever, straight panels, motor is fresh and a nice suspension setup.

bolt on bits and pieces already in there include

cusco strut braces front and rear.
    FRONT: JIC coilovers (5ways)
    {update
REAR: TRD short stroke (damper adjust) (green)
    DIFF: LSD, unknown...?
    update}

    recaro drivers bucket
    sabelt harnesses
    leather wheel
    alloy shifter
    Mini Disk stereo! supa japanese!

    trd leads
    hks (death mushroom) filter
    cat back exhaust (over diff)

and i thought id leave the wheels and tyres till last because thats been a bit of a project might be interesting/worth mentioning..

i bought a set of Volk Racing "2 piece" Wheels of very poor asthetic quality but straight. (matt black spray paint, chipped with runs)

Turned out they were actually 3 piece when the tyres came off.

matching wheels of different size front to rear,
    front: 6.5 * 15 off +20
    rear: 7 * 15 off +14

    here is the original condition.

ive had them sandblasted and powder coated and the lips polished all at a fantastic business who did the right thing by me everystep as well as being extremely price competitive. I'm unashamedly giving them a plug as I'm really happy with the work they did, and for those of you in brisbane looking for wheel reconditioning i recommend them thoroughly!

here is what they made of them.

they look amazing and change from a gloss black in the shade to a dark charcoal with faint silver fleck in the sun.. they custom mixed the colour for me.

the rubber is the same all round, Bridgestone Adrenaline 195 50 15.
looking forward to seeing how it goes compared to the G3's which i have driven.

so about me. been keen on cars since i can rememeber, love things that go,
Have a CAMS licence, (BSCC member), love the mount cotton hill climb!

other things that slide include my go kart and RC drift car
sorry to all the drift advocates, but on road I'm into grip (;>_<)P

at QUT, finishing a business degree.
just returned from japan where i have been living for the last half year.

    and thats me.

so thanks for reading and I'm really looking forward to meeting you all and sharing the passion..

    matt.

    welcome mate! (y)

thats a nice clean kouki trueno. make sure you don't do what alotta people do when they first get an ae86 and start thrashing it straight away. they do handle very well when thrashing them but be warned, itll punish you if you make a mistake at high speed.

they did a nice job of those meshies

thanks to everyone for all the welcomes,

no car as of yet but i do have some new additions to my pile of parts in my living room
Got plates very happy to have found that my initials and b'day were still avail, so i decided that id want to keep them and resisted the temptation to get a car relevant plate.

I got a larger sized rear plate to fill the japanese mount position. they call them an "american" plate but the sizing should be just about spot on for the rear mount.
    here are the pics.

And here is japans no 1 national treasure. hopefully i can fit it on my rear view.
Hanshin tigers are a baseball team.. so kitty chan is batting up with a tacoyaki osaka's food.

    めっちゃかわいいやん!

only thing now is waiting for compliance to be finished, the supplier conveniently sent two passenger side seat belts from Melbourne so waiting on drivers side belt to show up..... i think this'll be the last issue hopefully!!!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>yeah I've seen that happen! Thanks for the concern, no doubt I will be taking it very easy until I'm comfortable driving the car and understand the limitations in its current format.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>thanks mate, yeah private import, wasn't cheap by any stretch but very happy to have paid more for a clean rust free example, which seem to have become extremely rare given the age. This one came from Nagoya, an area without salted road s typical of areas in northern japan, it seems very well cared for if not garaged!!!

in regards developments, will be posting up more soon but as long as i don't run into any dramas I'm going to wait till i get a good feel for the car until i try and improve on anything much. i don't want to do things in half measures so ill wait and see whats been done and how its running in a couple of weeks. ideas but no solid plans as yet ( stay tuned :2thumbs: )

thanks again everyone for all your input.
