    just a 4k?

basically u will have to thrash the crap out of it, but they run out of puff anywhere above about 5 grand,
can safely rev them to about 6, jsut dont keep it there, it wont rev much higher than that, they usualy valve bounce between 6 n 7

ive revved my 4ac's to 7500 without any valve bouncing...

basically if its a standard motor and for drifting keep it where it makes power probaly (4000-5500). also with minimum power you want to start with some revs on it so you have he flywheel spinning fast, the standard heavy fly will help to keep wheels spinning (if you manage to break traction) until the revs die. if you got a 4k, chop the springs and wait until it rains, get some 14's up front and have a ball.

4k+cutties and descent steer tyres+liquid horsepower=big cheap fun.

oh back on topic of safe revving, the more you rev it the less engine life you will have. pushing parts the factory redline will surely shorten engine life even more. make sure you keep the water and oil into it.

    yes good point,

when clutch dumping rev the shit out of it, as the fly will keep it going,
if your 4k is actually good enough to be able to play with the throttle a little then keep it around 5 as ae71 said for powerband, i find 4-5 is probs a little better than 4.5-5.5 but depends on ur motor.
ive had a few 4ks and none have revved up to 7, the one i have now doesnt valve bounce but doesnt rev that well either. dont have tacho so cant tell but id say it barely makes it to 6,
my last one bounced at around 6.5.
and the 5k i used to drive bounced at about 6.3

yeah copped falcon springs commodore shocks, cig locker, 15"s up front and the narrowest 13" I cold get for the back.

I will try too build up enough speed to get a feint entry happening, just dont think it wll have enough power to pull out of it.

    skinny aint always good

    you will spin easier

when i had 14X6's with 185's on the rear,
i could pull much longer skids, had a lot more control.(than 13's with 165's)
and didint need much more speed if any

^ +1. 14's are soooo much better then 13's. 13's flex WAY to much

After 6k it's just noise and heat.

less track at the rear will also make it more oversteery.

i find that too many 15's tend to snap understeer.

i usually use 14' all around. 175/65 or 185/60 on the back. good 185/60 on the front. wide wheels will make the shitty tyres roll less as the sidewalls are tighter.

Well that was shit, not enough power to pul a good skid, hand brake was not working and huge understeer.

Next plane rona LCA, stiffer springs up front, remove engine fan and replace with thermo, webber, extractors, exhaust system with no mufflers I was losing to much back pressure.

    any other tips??

    go faster =]
    accelerate earlier
    run super bold tyres
use a bit of weight shifting

    and good luck :2thumbs:
