Ok people i am unsure as to what plug (e.g. gappin and heat range) i should use in my 4agte. Its and smallport block with a bigport head running 15psi. Now if it has a bigport head should i run the bigport plugs or should i run the smallport plugs coz of the block

    Thanks,
    Ben.

P.S. i did search but there was nothing about different heads on different blocks.

the more power you make, the 'cooler' (higher number!) the plug you need

i went to one of the jap-part dealers, and eventually used some greddy plugs that were "1 point" colder than normal, things ran better (but i was running a fair wack of boost)

i'd suggest start at stock plugs, and work your way up

    gap .. same deal

The 4A-GE is originaly speced with platinum plugs. It is cheaper, and maybe better to just use normal copper plugs. Or Denso U plugs, or NGK Y plugs, which are just copper with an extra edge.

Do not use irridium unless your cold start and normal running has spot on fuel mixtures at all times. A slight rich condition will blacken the plug in no time and you will get a misfire, more so with turbo.

For turbo, close the gap to 0.7 or 0.8mm.

Go one step colder if the car is driven hard. A plug that is too cold will get build up, because at the correct temp the plug is ment to be self cleaning.

i would prob run a set of ngk bkr6e or bkr5e and then just gap them down to 0.7 / 0.8
