sounds like the timing might be out, maybe the cam belt has stretched and jumped a tooth.
or
you have a major fuel leak and there is no pressure at the rail or the fuel pump has shit itself
My 4AGE Is broken!
I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas
Symptoms:
Does not idle (nor do I idol it.. he he)
It smells funny (kind like fuel or when your burn the clutch in a cheap Korean made car)
It makes NO to fuck all power I could not get it up my drive way. (in all fairness it is a pretty steep driveway)
It sounds funny kinda like it's missing as well
Prior to this it was fine (well it still smell funny but everything else was fine)
Also prior to this happening it was not driven for about 2 weeks!
Any ideas team?
P.S free pair of CA18 Silvia wheels to whoever has the right answer! (you have to pick them up put)

yep check timing.. double check and then check it again.
Check; Dizzy, ignitor/coil, MAP, TPS
Zach if its got no power itll usually mean its lacking compression...
It could be timing by the sounds of it, maybe your dizzy has slipped slightly... just enough so it can miss.
If you can drive it enough, your more than welcome to bring it round and ill try give you a hand and see what the problem is.
Have a look in the coolant and the oil cap... if the coolant is a brownish foamy colour, and/or the oil in the cap has got any white in it... you might have blown a head gasket.
If it doesnt idol at ll though i reckon it could be timing
Collapsed CAT? if your running one
It explains the smell, loss of power, idle?
Thanks for the replies all!
Will have to set up some kind of broom on the pedal system to rev the engine so it doesn't stall
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (lowau @ Sep 30 2008, 10:57 AM) </div>thats actually a very good point...
not something i generally consider...
i think the first step (after looking at your cat) would be to do a compression test, and eliminate dodgy compression and blown head gasket...
if they are both fine, then generally anything to do with power loss involves the timing (either cam or ignition) to be out..
