    Default Restoring AE86 Dash

    Hey guys,

I am currently in the process of restoring my AE86 dash board, not really interested in paying someone to fix them so I'd like to know if anyone on here has any experience with anything of this nature.

Basically what i was thinking of taking of the vinyl (completely stuffed) and the padding underneath and redoing them in brand new material.

Any product recommendations, techniques on how to do this and/or anything else related to retrimming a dash would be greatly appreciated.

once uve got all the old vinyl and padding off, lightly sand the dash to rough it up to give the glue something to bind to. with the new padding, depending on how spongey u want the dash to be will bepend on how thick of padding u get. vinyl, u only want thin slightly stretchable material. there is available vinyl that already has the padding on the back but if not glue the padding the the back of the vinyl first and let set before glueing to the dash. wen glueing to the dash start from the middle and stretch to the outter, let set the trim if neccesary.
