Count the splines, you may have been shafted.
hey guys, did a bit of a search but couldnt find anything. just bought an ADM t50 and a AE71 manual wagon tailshaft. tried fitting the tailshaft to the t50 and it wont fit? help would be great, thanks

good pun![]()
lmao, so simple should have checked that lol. thanks
With T50 output shafts there are 2 different splines. Newer ones have the bigger size. The changeover date is around 1981, during the TE72 build dates. The chances are you were given a gearbox from the 1970s, probably from a Celica.
damn, well i counted and my t50 has 22 splines, and my tailshaft has over 26.
by the way, gearbox was from an ae71, tailshaft from an ae71 thats whats got me stumped.
Well the gearbox is fine it's the tail shaft that is the problem. A 22 spline box would have definitely been from a AE71 or another later Toyota. Did you pull the tailshaft out yourself, someone might be having you on, it's known to happen unfortunately...
think you're right unfortunately timbo. well anyone got a 22 spline tailshaft?![]()
There is a an auto AE71 at my local wreckers, do they use the same tailshaft?
