cool man yeah im pretty keen to give em a go. are they easy to get tuned?
What if it's converted to EFI?
One does not convert a 4AGE to EFI. They come as EFI motors, as such are legal in a Sprinter or Corolla with the appropriate paperwork.
My bad mate, I meant the carbies adapted to a EFI intake...
Still wont happen, the EFI system needs to be there and fully functioning for the car to be legal. So anything related to carbies etc just isn't going to be accepted.
In Victoria, any mods that affect emissions require an epa test and certificate. Regarding carbs, a modest tune would pass the test but it's not cheap and every failure requires you pay for another test. At around $1500 per test (i'm told by a vicroads approved engineer) it's not really feasible.
So, it is possible but $$$.
EDIT: What sort of car is it going in? Pre '76 there are no/very lax emissions rules so a carbed 4age in say, a ta22, ke20 etc is legal without testing.

At least in NSW I have been told that modifying emissions related equipment is strictly forbidden. But perhaps its different in VIC.
$1500 per test? Wtf?![]()
