Brake calliper piston sizes?

Hi all,

Can anyone help me out with a few dimensions please?

I'm trying to work out the best package for a front brake upgrade on my AE86 and would appreciate it if anyone could tell me the diameter of the calliper pistons in the following callipers:

*S14 four pot front

*R32 GTS-t four pot front

*FC3S RX7 four pot front

*FD3S RX7 four pot front

*S13 SR20 single piston front

*S14/S15 TURBO four pot front Piston area - 40.4mm x 4
*R32 GTS-t four pot front Piston area - 40.4mm x 4

the difference is S14/S15 front calipers are made from Cast Iron, weighing at 4.8kg (roughly), and R32 GTS-T are made of Alloy, weighing at 3.3kg (roughly), Both use the exact same brake disc rotors, 280mm x 30mm ventilated

*S13 SR20DET single piston front - i dont know the piston dimension area, its what currently in my CA18de S13, slotted disc with A1RM pads, works very well for what it is on my s13, but im currently upgrading to full R32 GTS-T brakes all round on my car, so that should give you a good idea of "not to bother" with this one if you were a bit more serious of having good brakes for track use

as for the FC and FD, i dont know the dimensions but people are still using the FC combination on this forum i believe and they all say its the good shit...or just get wilwood =]

The FC calliper is a commonly used option,the nissan callipers not so much. The CA18 calliper is the smaller of the two single pots on the S13s,the silvia guys I know on silvia nsw generally throw them in the bin. They're mated to a 13/16" master,where the SR brakes are mated to a 15/16" unit,so they must be bigger,I just don't know by how much.

I've heard some nasty stories about the cheaper wilwoods flexing on circuit cars and giving odd pad wear. Seeing as they're made in china (like most things unfortunately),that doesn't surprise me. I'd prefer something like AP's if I was to go aftermarket,but at this stage,I'm open to ideas.

I'm planning to run an S14 15/16" master cylinder,and am looking for what can be adapted to my RA40 struts and clear the lower control arm and negative offset wheels. The only easy options are single or twin piston sliding callipers. I have a pair of AE111/SW20 twin pots which I'd like to use,but need too wide a disc at 25-26mm. Finding something that will take a 20-22mm thick disc,around 280mm in diameter,that bolts behind the hub and will clear my suspension and wheels is proving difficult.

Anyway,I'm heading over to race brakes tomorrow,maybe they'll have an option for me to consider.
